Pagan gods of the ancient gauls
Re: Green pagans find way to White House funding and Dancing Druids
Having read your recent article regarding ‘Dancing Druids’, and how your ancestors were good followers of the French Church. If indeed they were French by heritage, and one followed their workings back far enough, one would undoubtedly find them worshiping the pagan gods of the ancient gauls. And many others.
But really, what your ancestors worshipped is, of course, a moot point. One could look at my parents and ask why I am not a practicing ‘Catholic-Seventh-Day adventist’. Aye, my parents were a weird pair. What is important, is your comment that ‘we shouldn’t expect funding out of the public purse’. I happen to fully agree, the same should apply to christians. Make no mistake that a portion of the money that goes into the tax pool comes from Pagans, and no organization with any religious affiliation should recieve any of that funding.
That money is meant for serving the public good, repairing roads, supporting the military, maintaining the social services the country provides. Note that I will retract one thing, hospitals, hospices, and the like should recieve this funding, but not based on any religious affiliation, but on their dedication to serving the public. On the other hand, your local church should not, as they only serve their congregation, and those who believe (or choose to go to church).
Just my 2c.
