Pagan, not a horse thief
Re: Green pagans find way to White House funding and Dancing Druids
I would like to take a few moments of your time to respond to the laughable article I read from Ms McLeod about the “Dancing Druids”.
I, myself, am a Pagan. I am not into “bashing” other religions. I would prefer to educate the ignorant about “Alternative” spirituality. It appears to me that Ms. McLeod sees the Pagan community as a group of people with their hands out looking for free $$. That is not the purpose in the request for funding. I believe that their should be an even amount of $$ available to every religious path. The Christian religion receives quite a pretty penny towards their cause, as well as a few other Christian organizations. Do the Buddhists receive the same amount? Or even 50% of that amount? What about the Islamic faith? The Jewish community? I believe the answer to these questions is a resounding no. I know the Pagans don’t receive 25% of the funding that goes to the Christian religious organizations. Why is it, that if it isn’t “mainstream” it isn’t worth it? I was always taught tolerance. And before an idiotic snide remark comes out of someone’s mouth, my whole family is of one Christian belief or another. I will ask this question for, what seems to be, the 150,723 time. Why is it that the Pagan community, for the most part, is taught to accept, support and tolerate every other religion, but we are the least understood, accepted and supported religion today? In case someone forgot to go to school after 2nd grade, it is the year 2005, not 1953. Tolerance is necessary to survival.
And to clarify, MS. MCLEOD, not all Pagans were horse thieves. Most were and are very peaceful and keep to themselves for fear of being attacked for their religious belief. Some of the ignorant remarks are a reflection back on Nazi’s. “You don’t believe what I believe, you don’t deserve what I deserve” What kind of crap is that?
Sincerely aggravated.
