Wiccans, pagans and federal money

Re: Green pagans find way to White House funding and Dancing Druids

Hmmm, well if the author feels that Wiccans should not receive federal money to advance their religion I am in full agreement. Wiccans shouldn’t get Federal money to do that.
And neither should Christians, Jews, Muslims, Nor any other religion.

But funny how you singled out Wiccans who, from your article are going to use the money to (GASP!) help protect the environment. Oh my, that is horrible. I mean, meanwhile you have far right Christian groups in Texas who used the government money to convert desperate people in order to grow their church when this kind of faith based program was first used in texas. Some of these churches are still under investigation on charges o fraud and child abuse. But gee, obviously that isn’t nearly as grave as the threat of what Wiccans might do.. to trees or squirrels or whatever while protecting the environment. Maybe if they did the same kind of spiritual predation like some of their Christian counterparts you wouldn’t have such a problem with them?

And fascinating how so many Pagans there seem to be. Why, according to you anybody who believes in cleaning up the environment is a Wiccan. Even Catholic priests. (You would have to wonder why one would take the time to go through Seminary if you didn’t hold to the religion, don’t you think?)
Hmm, and so using your “logic”, anybody who wears a head scarf is a muslim and I am an Indy five hundred driver because my car has a V8 engine.

In fact, according to you Wicca must be HUGE since it includes people like Druids, Voodoo, and Horse Thieves. Whether those people actually describe themselves as Wiccans or practice Wicca being beside the point. Because don’t we al know that NON-Wiccans never break laws?

Ok, Sarcasm off. Except for my saying that no religion should get federal funding. They shouldn’t. But Bush opened that door and guess what? If you give to one religion, you have to give to them all. it was to avoid exactly this kind of mess that the Founders established separation of church and state. So if you have a problem with faith based programs, taking that up might be more effective then bashing a religion you couldn’t even take five minutes to research (how else to explain your numerous and ridiculous errors?)

Though really it wasn’t the petty bigotry that bugged me. There will always be stupid and bigoted people saying stupid and bigoted things and I would prefer that I be able to recognize them. So talk away. When you say that Wiccans are delusional and thieves, it’s kind of hard for any sane person to take you claim of ‘tolerance” seriously. What do you say about people you don’t like then?

But the gross and inaccurate generalizations, mudslinging and self rightousness do bother me. As they seem to have become the trademark of the conservative press. While I may not know anything about your ancestry because of your surname (nor do I too) your political agenda is pretty obvious when you use phrases like “Liberals on the Attack”.

I hope you have a “Tolerant” boss because by rights you should be fired, not because your intolerant but because you are a shoddy writer and a hack of a journalist.
