religious tolerance for pagans and witches

Re: Walmart goes wicca
It pains me to read your article and attitude twords the inclusion of pagan/wiccan merchandise in Walmart.
The first thing that pains me is that you are showing an obvious prejudice that will not allow you to open your eyes to see things beyond the filter of your own faith. [...]

A cheap shot at the occult

Re: Walmart goes wicca
“Wal-Mart Goes Wicca” is without a doubt the single
most idiotic, nonsensical editorial I have ever read
in my life. Judi McLeod bounces from one unrelated
topic to another and has absolutely nothing to say
about either. Her opinion on the matter of life
insurance is not evident, and like other simple-minded
editorial writers Wicca is merely an [...]

Re: Walmart goes wicca
I’m having dificulty grasping the thematic thrust of your recent article, “Wal-Mart goes Wicca.” Its tone implies your disapproval of this particular merchant’s merchandising of Wicca-related literature.
However, Wal-Mart has also carried, in vast quantities and for several years, Christian literature from the likes of LaHaye, Warren, and others — indeed, the firm’s [...]

wiccans and capitalism

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Re: Walmart goes wicca
Are you un aware that Wicca is a religion?
Wal Mart is all about making money. If they can sell Christian literature why not Wiccan?
If people were not disenchanted with main stream religions they would not look for other information.
Wicca is a growing faith there for Wal Mart is cashing in.
It’s called capitalism.
Blessed [...]

wiccan traditions and the five and dime

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Re: Walmart goes wicca
What sort of message were you trying to convey with this piece? You
obviously have some sort of problem with Wiccans, but you never explain
it. Wiccan traditions have been around a lot longer than the “five and
dimes” that you pine for, by the way.
My wife and several of my friends are Wiccan, and [...]

Religious tolerance toward pagans needed

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Re: Walmart goes wicca
I have just read your article about Wal-Mart carrying Wiccan stuff and I must tell you that I am disapponted. I am a Methodist who belongs to a discussion group on the internet supporting religious tolerance for all faiths. Your article appeared on this group.
I have learned a lot from these people [...]

Witches deserve respect

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Re: Walmart goes wicca
I noticed your article on Wicca and Walmart was not very flattering towards Walmart or Wicca. I’m curious, do you have some actual experience with Wiccans that would cause you to feel this way, or is this just the result of never having met a real wiccan?
We deserve respect and the [...]

An appalled witch

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Re: Walmart goes wicca
I make it a personal priority to confront any sort of press that is derogatory to my beliefs. When I read your article regarding Wal-Mart carrying wiccan books, I was appalled.
It is of no consequence to you that Wicca is one of the fastest growing religions in the United States. I’m not [...]

Re: Walmart goes wicca
I read an aricle written by you today. It was called “wal mart goes Wicca”. I’m sorry, but someone with THIRTY years of experience in the journalism field should know how to research a topic thoroughly. You however did NOT do this. I am a 21 [...]

Low punches directed at witches

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Re: Walmart goes wicca
The journalist (I use the term loosely) pulls a few low punches. More specifically:
“Oh, for the days when the closest thing to witches that could be found down at the local department store was the witch’s costume you bought for Halloween”
She speaks more about the class action law suit against Wal-Mart’s than [...]
