Enemies within
Dear Editor;
As another Remembrance Day passes, most of us assume that we can go back to forgetting about wars for another year. However, we should wake up to the fact that we are at war right now.
Canadian combat troops are currently mustering in Afghanistan to hunt down Al Qaeda terrorists. Sadly, they will suffer casualties. They will also inflict losses on the enemy. And when that happens, Osama bin Laden’s fifth-columnists will strike Canadian civilians the same way they have already struck Americans, Spaniards, British and Australians.
While it’s a good thing to remember defeating old enemies abroad, we must also remember that we have new enemies within.
