What guardian angels?

Re: “What guardian angels, then?” (Editorial Jan. 17):
Re Your statement that the police have good reasons to fear policing certain areas of Toronto is chilling. Why don’t the police send in SWAT teams, posing as civilians, to nail the gangsters in these areas. As for the Guardian angels, their motives are good, but the same job could be done by an expanded auxiliary police. In high-crime neighbourhoods, there is no substitute for the old fashioned cop-on-the-beat.
