IN PRAISE OF WINTER
Dear Editor:
Snow banks shining in the cold sunlight
frosty noses glowing in the chill
the laughter of children throwing snowball
the swish of skiers on the hill
hot chocolate with marshmallows
while the snow is blowing
reading in a cozy chair
by the embers glowing
before you know it
wonderful winter has melted away
so enjoy it while you can
soon enough you’ll be complaining
about the heat, the humidity, the bugs and
all the other unpleasant, un-winter things
