Assassination attempts on Pope John Paul II

Dear Editor:
Re: New investigation:
KGB behind all plots to assassinate John Paul II:
Ali Agca’s Secret Services

Hello - I am interested in your assertions regarding the Stasi documents allegedly confirming that the KGB was behind the May 13, 1981 attempt on the pope. I have tried to follow this since the first claim was made regarding these documents. As far as I can tell from internet sources: a) No documents from the Stasi archives have been published; b) Impossimato claimed the documents proved a KGB connection before/without seeing the documents; c) the German archivist curating the Stasi documents said they proved nothing about the KGB & the pope, etc.; d) the Bulgarians, to whom the documents were sent several years ago by the Germans, said the same; e) the Italians, who demanded that the Bulgarians send them the documents, later complained that documents were missing (denied by the Bulgarians); and f) Markus Wolff, former Stasi head, denied that he had ever met Impossimato, though the latter claimed that he had learned of a KGB connection from Wolff. - Those who have seen the documents and are quoted in news sources on the internet say only that they show the Bulgarians were asking GDR help to deal with the media fallout after Agca’s claim in late 1982 that he had worked for the Bulgarians; a reasonable response, imo, and not displaying guilt.

If you have copies or can point me toward copies of published Stasi documents regarding the KGB/Agca business, I would appreciate it very much.

Thank you.
