Dishonouring War Memorials
Dear Editor:
A National Disgrace
Having just read about the drunken youth who were caught on camera urinating on our National Memorial in Ottawa, it takes me back about 4 yrs ago.
I was visiting Ottawa and I decided to go visit our National Memorial at Confederation Square around 10 O’clock at night. When I got there…….there were about 10 drunken teenagers standing and laying on the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier.
This made me made as hell.Unfortunately there were no police around so I took matters into my own hands. Some people may not agree to this but I went up to these youths and I told them in a very angry and loud voice.
“You guys got two choices, either you get the hell out of here or I punch the crap out of all of you.Drunk or not, I guess they could see how angry I was so they decided to leave.
I was informed a number of yrs ago that this has been a common occurrence amongst the youth. (getting drunk and hanging out at Confederation Square) I can only hope that our politicians and police will finally do something about this. My two Uncles were killed in action (serving Canada) during the Second World War. I think they deserve better than this.
