Season unto Season

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

Summertime is fading fast,
I feel a chill in the evening
breeze,
soon, some specks of autumn
gold
will glint among the maple
trees.
They are not long, the days
of bees and butterflies
and walking barefoot
on the sand,
but lucky us,
when summer’s done,
glorious fall will bless the land.

Baha’i Faith

Dear Editor:
Re: One Israeli soldier who fell:
the myth of Israeli apartheid
While your defence of the Baha’i Faith is commendable, you are incorrect in your assertion that its World Centre is in Haifa due to the ‘openness’ of the Jewish state. While the Baha’i Faith enjoys a cordial relationship with the Israeli government, […]

Evolution

Friday, August 4th, 2006

Dear Editor:
I’m never sure whether those who think that the 1 per cent genetic difference between humans and chimpanzees are trying to convince themselves that chimps are almost human, or whether they’re just trying to make monkeys out of us. Anyway, if they really believe that the 1 per cent genetic difference makes humans […]

Dear Editor:
Re: One Canadian’s Apology
It has indeed been a pleasant surprise to read your column on this matter. You
could hardly imagine my surprise to find that this article had been penned by
a fellow Canadian and was found in a Canadian news source. The liberalization of Canada
brought about by Mr Mansbridge and the CBC is nearly […]

We the people demand!

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

Dear Editor:
Re: Whitmore
So help me to understand, because concensus across age, sex and politics seems to be similar. Why isn’t there a national outcry, led by like-thinking groups, assisted by all media, whereby the smarmy lawmakers of this country are forced to make common sense changes that protect us all?
We are told (fed the […]

Neutrality won’t cut it

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

Dear Editor:
Re: One Canadian’s Apology
Dear ” Mr”. Beryl,
I applaud your piece. Thank you for bringing so much clarity and truth out into the open.
Canadians need to be jolted from their slumber. It seems to me that a majority of Canadians typically adopt “neutrality” as a protective distancing from their association with world events. […]
