Dear Editor:

I’m never sure whether those who think that the 1 per cent genetic difference between humans and chimpanzees are trying to convince themselves that chimps are almost human, or whether they’re just trying to make monkeys out of us. Anyway, if they really believe that the 1 per cent genetic difference makes humans and chimps more-or-less alike, I suggest that they take a chimp to dinner and discuss the theory of evolution with him.
