Fugitives and the law
Dear Editor
Re: Let’s cry for Ralph “Bucky” Phillips
I would like to say that I am with you 100% regarding Ralph Phillips.
I happen to live in Russell, Pa (Akely) where for five months this fugitive ran loose. Day after day, our lives were disrupted by armed police officers, helicopters & media swarming my home and area. We couldn’t sleep peacefully and we most certainly thought twice before taking evening strolls - one of the many things we never had to worry about before in our sweet, but simple town.
At the risk of spending any more time than absolutely necessary on Ralph Phillips, let me just say this: I, for one, do NOT feel an ounce of sympathy for the man. He (allegedly of course….ha!) killed one man and injured two others who were doing nothing but trying to protect us. He CHOSE to break the law. He CHOSE to fire the shots. Supposedly Mr. Phillips cared so much about HIS family, but what about the families of the fallen officer(s)? Even IF (and I say IF) Phillips himself did not pull the triggers that caused the destruction of human life, the fact of the matter is that IF he didn’t escape from jail and run from the law, chances are that these officers would be going home to THEIR families that they cared deeply for tonight.
As for the “bad family life” I don’t know one person that can honestly say their family life was perfect. Mine certainly was not. Do you want to know what I did about it? I moved away. I started a life & like to think that I am a positive influence and not a drain on my community. With that being said, I will end this with a great BIG thank you to all of the law enforcement officers, “lay-people” and anyone else who helped in the capture of Ralph Phillips.
No sympathy for Ralph. He is in a jail cell because he CHOSE to be there.
Have a great day!
