Stephane Dion

Dear Editor:

It is customary to give the new leader of a party, a “honey moon,” meaning a break so he/she can get comfortable on the job. I was prepared to do that with anyone who became the leader of the Liberals at their recent convention. Well, almost anyone, I still haven’t forgotten the pain and suffering so many Ontarians went though, thanks to Bob Rae.

Unfortunately, the arrogance of Mr. Dion in refusing to see the obvious conflict of interest, of a potential prime minister owing allegiance to two countries with sometimes opposed national interests, is appalling.

As if that were not enough, Mr. Dion is lying to Canadians. Yes, this is not a typo, he is lying, because he knows as well as I do that same-sex “marriage” is NOT a right to be found in the Canadian Charter of rights. It was left out by his Liberal ilk, on purpose, and rightly so.

In fact, he also knows that it is not a right in the United Nations Charter, neither in the U.S.A. Bill of Rights, nor in the European Union’s Charter. It isn’t a right in ANY Charter of Rights or equivalent!

He would have done well to remember that his “other country,” voted against making it a right, not so long ago, to protect the children of France. Now it seems the French care more about their children than 175 Canadian Parliamentarians do!
