Dear Editor,

You are doing a great public service with these stories. Don’t let the issue die. As to David Ramsey, I know the man personally. I was in Kirkland Lake during the last few years of the Adams Mine crusade from 1999 to 2003. At the time I was publisher of the Kirkland Lake Gazette which subsequently closed after the landfill project failed. I was a strong supporter of the landfill and fought many skirmishes against Ramsey and his First Nations allies in Temiscamingue Quebec. If you recall, there were many threats of violence against supporters of the landfill and against the Ontario Northland Railway. David Ramsey, who was a member of the opposition Liberals at the time (he’s actually an NDP turncoat) and took centre stage at many rallies at which threats to blow up the many railway bridges into Northern Ontario were made. These threats were all published in my paper, The Temiskaming Speaker in New Liskeard and the Northern Daily News in Kirkland Lake. In my weekly column, My Town, I call on Ramsey and his cohorts many times to speak out against the threats of violence. In all that time, they only did this once near the end of the campaign. David Ramsey, in my opinion, is unfit to be a minister of anything, except perhaps Minister of Duplicity. His ties to the First Nations cause and extremist eco-protest groups such as NorthWatch, can and should be exposed. At the time, the OPP refused to do anything about the bombing threats in spite of evidence that at least one bomb-making “school” was operating in what was then New Liskeard. The mainstream media, most notably The Toronto Red Star, Global Television and CBC Radio 1 out of Sudbury were the main supporters of the opponents. I am considering writing a book on the Anti-Adams Mine Crusade and would not mind sharing any knowledge I have of this matter with you. I really think it is time for the people of Ontario to give their heads a shake and see just how badly they are being mis-governed. While Ontario is my home province, I would not give the idea of ever returning there one second’s thought.
Very Best Regards

Bill McIntyre
