Dear Editor,
A well written article that articulates what I am seeing in my travels…..indifferent Americans flaunting with failure, wrongly placed self flaggelation, and desiring failure and defeat. What they seem unaware of is the propensity the enemy will use to cause us to fall. They feel this self-indulgent behavior is alright. The enemy sees it as capitulation.
I have observed some of this indulgent behavior and have decided it is seen in those living indolent lives. My prime example is a daughter in Seattle trying to tell me that vaccinating children was unhealthy! I got real silent and said to her only fools that had never seen polio kill, diptheria cause misery, suffering and death could complain that some vaccine might cause something…there isn’t even proof of. She got the children their immunizations. I explained to her that when people were too far from an event, like solving the death of children by ravaging diseases, or too far from hard earned/fought freedom and what it means to be free….that they don’t see the gift that is worth so much.
And Mr. Kohlmayer, you came from an oppressed country whose freedom gained is in recent memory. And we were military and we know first hand that there are those who want our country and would steal our freedom. And we saw first hand as a family what terrorism can do in Germay back in the 80’s. Our children were targets of a terrorist group that failed to kidnap them. Had they succeeded we wouldn’t have 3 adult children. And we had our cars searched daily for bombs, and watched for packages delivered and suffered fears of being a target.
Well, enough recollection. I must write a piece on misplaced fears……I could tell volumes. Meanwhile, our son has left for Iraq. And he had more than trepidation returning…..he knows his country’s leaders seem committed to lose. The question to me is….how long will it take us to fall. Many don’t think America could fall, I am not one of them. My aunt before her death bought a remote ranch in Wyoming and left it to us telling us it was to be a place of refuge for a time when the US fell. And that was 25 years ago.
Be blessed….and Happy New Year. Keep on pressing your thoughts into writing and remember perhaps someone reading will wake up to realize the danger….and it is our complacency and stupidity.
