Yellow ribbon debacle in Toronto

Dear Editor;
Re: The ‘Boycott Anti-Troop Toronto’ Campaign

This is a copy of the letter I send to Mayor Miller of Toronto:
Mr. Miller,
I have been following the yellow ribbon debacle, and after reading the latest instalment of your reaction to it decided to write to you. You do not speak for me, Sir. In my circle of family and friends, there is not one of them who supports your rather peculiar attitude toward the men and women of this country, who do the right and honourable thing on a daily basis, while we are subjected to hearing your mindless piffle on a ribbon that shows our support for the troops. While I realise your political philosophy is at odds with the democracy we live in, surely even a jaded socialist and his pals have the sense to sniff the wind on this one. No? Well then, I think you may find that you will loose in many ways should you persist with this sickening and dishonourable venting of yours against something that the people believe in: The troops and their mission.
The time has come, Mr. Miller, when you and your pals, Jack and Sid, need to take a holiday, as it would appear that the strain of office is beginning to show via your lack of thought on such a sensitive subject. The people, (you know, those people) simply will not stand for this madness coming from such a well paid civil servant. By the by, how goes the garbage battle?
Ms. M. Collins.
