Is the Szabo chaired ethics committee still relevant?

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Dear Editor:
A letter to..
MP Dean DelMastro,
Peterborough, Ont
Mr. DelMastro,
Good on you to get Mike Duffy involved in the alleged CBC/Liberal collusion story.
Hopefully Jean LaPierre the journalist who blew the whistle while on Duffy’s show will also be called.
Was the chairman Szabo apprised of the line of ( irrelevant [...]

Canadians in Afghanistan

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Re PMO hiding truth, Dion alleges.” (Jan. 26):
Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan grows more controversial with each passing day. Are we going to become so used to our soldiers coming home in body-bags that it’s only reported in small print? There are so many different reasons given for Canada being part of [...]

Durban Conference has no credibility

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

Dear Editor:
Every Canadian should join B’nai Brith Canada and the Canadian Jewish Congress in thanking our government for the courage to once again take a principled stand in refusing to attend the farcical Durban II UN racism conference in South Africa in 2009. The 2001 conference did little more than provide a platform for the [...]

THE GLUG BALL

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Dear Editor:
Once upon a time, a boy named Tim was rooting around in the attic of his grandparents farmhouse when he came across an old wooden ball which had ten tiny holes drilled in it. The only other marking on the ball was the word “glug ” burned into it. Intrigued, the boy hurried to [...]

Canada hosts the Oscars…

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Dear Editor:
The Canadian TV networks missed a golden opportunity to possibly having Oscar singing O Canada. You’d think that at least one of the networks’ CEOs would have suggested holding the Oscars in Toronto where there are no picket-lines to cross. It seems that it’s not just the eggheads at [...]

Black School Fiasco

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Dear Editor:
Re: Black Oriented Schools – How to hurt all Canadians
Just a word of thanks for your excellent article pouring cold water on the idea of black schools. You are absolutely right. Another point: the United States has a large number of “traditionally black colleges.” These are [...]

The Manley Report on Afghanistan

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Dear Editor:
So Jack Layton feels that the Manley report is out of touch.
“First, it is Jack Layton that is out of touch with the mission in Afghanistan”.
Three questions that I would like to ask regarding Jack Layton?
Has Layton ever served in the Canadian military?
Has Layton ever served in combat?
Has Layton been to Afghanistan to see [...]

Guns in Toronto

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Dear Editor:
Mr. Miller, you have scored political points by pointing out the man who shot John O’Keefe was a legally licensed gun owner. This is disingenuous. Millions of Canadians are legally licensed gun owners (mostly long guns). Just because he was a licensed gun owner does not mean HE HAD A CONCEAL CARRY PERMIT.
Did he [...]

Tyrants Vs. the Free Press

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Dear Editor:
Oakland Ross (writing in the Toronto star) says that if Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were to visit Israel’s Holocaust Museum he would suddenly see how stupid his view of the Holocaust is. Ross is being naive. Ahmadinejad, like all dictators and tyrants, sees what he wants to see and hears what he wants [...]
