Desnethe-Misinippi-Churchill River
Dear Editor:
What an interesting situation in the Desnethe-Misinippi-Churchill River by-election! A Tory who was never a Tory is running as a sort-of Tory while a Tory who was a Tory leadership hopeful is now a Liberal who may not be allowed to run as a Liberal.
Tory is, of course, the word reluctantly accepted as the cost of pretending to be a Conservative by the CA’s Harper because he was forced to do so, he said, by the inevitability of media describing a party calling itself Conservative Tory even though they know it is not.
Perhaps it would be better if the faux Tory run as the Reformer, the Liberal who is a Tory runs as a Tory Tory, and the Liberal who the Liberal Leader wants runs as a Liberal.
“Canada’s New Government” has unleashed a Monty Python sketch and called it national politics via its specious claims of credibility and it seems to be catching on. Let’s hope no one notices.
