The future of citizenship Representation

Dear Editor:

Much lately has been made of leaders of our Political Parties selecting candidates on behalf of constituents in ridings within Canada.

Political leaders have decided that they know best and have taken away a fundamental right of Canadian citizens. What they fail to realize, is that selected candidates within a riding have strong roots to that riding. There is a feeling of actual representation and certainly one where they respect and hold values that are similar to the ridings view of what is important to them.

To remove that right, is tantamount to telling constituents that a leader does not respect their right to be represented by those that share the ridings values. Northern ridings have even a stronger bondage, as there, individuals selected to represent them, are in most cases very personal and known to many.

How unfortunate, as we can all see this increase. It does not bode well for citizens in general. Each day we become more less able to control our future, and that of our country, Canada.
