Mr. McGuinty needs prayer
Dear Editor:
If there is one thing Canadians are tiring of it is misguided politicians who continue to show a distinct preference for their own agendas over the interests and requirements of their constituents and a profound disrespect for the cherished traditions and foundation stones that have made our country great.
Take Dalton McGuinty’s ill-conceived and delusionary notion to “move beyond” the recitation of the Lord’s prayer in the Ontario Legilsature.
If I were a citizen of Ontario I would be asking myself just where the “great beyond” is where Mr. McGuinty would lead his province and if they will recognize or like the Ontario he would fashion “after his own image.”
With the threat of the loss of thousands of jobs, a shrinking economy and the other real problems Ontario faces one would think Mr. McGuinty would be a little better at “sorting out priorities” and would be asking for and welcoming all kinds of prayer, never mind getting rid of it.
It is not constituents or cultural and religious minorities in Ontario that are calling for the scrapping of the Lord’s prayer. It is the misguided notion that in order to reflect a province or country’s diversity we must endlessly sacrfice our own traditions and roots. You can hardly call it intelligent to think you end up with a better house by scrapping the foundation.
Mr. McGuinty is confusing “progress” with stupidty.
