GST Gas Tax
Dear Editor:
When Stephen Harper was leading the opposition, and the price of gas was rising, he called on Jean Chrétien’s Liberal Government to do the right thing by removing the GST on gas when the price hit 80 cents a litre. Now, with gas selling at a dollar plus a litre, Harper is in a position to not only do the right thing for the economy, but to make a gas-tax cut a major plank in his re-election platform. If Harper fails to reduce the GST on gas, he shouldn’t be surprised if the Liberals make it their campaign pledge.
