Madness
Dear Editor:
Re “A crime that cries out for real justice.” (Editorial, May 6).
You don’t have to be a doctor to know that a person lying on the street bleeding profusely is in need of prompt medical attention. Likewise, you don’t have to be a psychiatrist to know that a person who murders two innocent strangers is stark raving mad. Therefore, in cases like this, the perpetrator should not be kept in jail for months, followed by a long trial, when it’s obvious that he should be confined in a mental institution immediately and forever.
