Canadian Cross of Valour
Dear Editor:
Re “Present, past meet in medal for valour.” (May 17).
The designer, and those who approved, the so called Canadian Victoria Cross are either closet Separatists or burdened with a dyed-in-the-wool colonial mentality. How else to explain that they believed by adding Fleurs de lis to the thistle, shamrock and rose on the original Victoria Cross would make it Canadian. There should have been a national contest for designing a distinctive, all-Canadian Cross, incorporating maple leaves and the word Canada. A new Canadian Cross for valor should also be made of 14 carat gold.
