Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a compound of two oxygen atoms bonded to a single carbon atom and comprises less than .04% content of our atmosphere.
CO2 is not a pollutant, man made or otherwise, but is essential for every living thing on earth, including sea life.
Our man-made and natural food supply is totally dependent on it. Photosynthesis automatically controls it’s concentration for us.
Water vapour in the atmosphere has a greater effect than all other greenhouse gasses combined but is rarely mentioned because it can’t be ‘blamed on man’, regulated, manipulated by devious vote seeking politico’s, and taxed like CO2 can from mans use of (high carbon content) fossil fuels.
First our ’save the planet’ BC Premier, Gordon Campbell schemes to corner the market on green votes, by bribing us with our own money, and wastes millions of tax dollars mailing us ($100 carbon tax credit cheques). It could more appropriately be called a ‘phantom tax credit’.
Then with the other hand (shell game) he grabs it all back, and then some, with fuel and home heating taxes. More millions wasted on bureaucratic bean counters.
Instead of coming clean and admitting his mistake, he now launches an even bigger waste of our tax dollars, a huge promotional add-campaign to sell the gullible public on this carbon tax that is according to Campbell’s own explanation, designed to go around in a complete circle “revenue neutral” and accomplish nothing.
Now we are being bombarded with TV and Radio adds, double full page newspaper adds, more multi-millions of our taxdollars down the drain.
The adds have large photos of natural and seasonal occurences (borrowed from inconvienient Al Gore) designed to alarm and instil guilt/fear in our emotions.
Photo of a pine beetle infested forest.- Is his tax going to resolve this? I think not, but Campbell would like to take credit for it.
Photo of flooded land.- Maybe if he spent taxdollars on dykes and flood control it would help, instead of wasting it on the sell-job tax scam.
Photo of melting ice breaking up.- This happens every year on every northern river, lake, and the northern sea. Are we supposed to feel guilty and pay more tax?
Photo of forest fire.- Is his tax going to magically prevent forest fires? In traditional fire season in BC there can be more than 200 fires burning at any given time.
Ok mr. Gordon Campbell, time to come clean, how much is your pickpocket “feel-good-tax” all costing us bottomless-pit taxsucker victims?
Every time I see or hear another of these Carbon-Tax sell-job advertisements, it raises more frustrations, bitter resentment and drives up my blood pressure.
The more these phoney (save the planet, carbon tax siphoning) huckster politicians get in our face, the more important health care becomes.
