Allowing veiled Muslim women to vote amounts to giving their male keepers two votes

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Dear Editor:
Re “Swear oath at polls, veiled voters told.” (Sept, 30):
Muslim women who veil their faces are not allowed to vote in their homelands. And even here, they are under the control of their fathers or husbands. Allowing veiled Muslim women to vote amounts to giving their male keepers two votes.

Save the whale, the spotted owl, but kill the baby is how the Green Party thinks

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Dear Editor;
On the CBC, Elizabeth May of the Green Party reiterated her support of abortion. She feels that women should be able to slaughter their own children simply because the child happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time (the mother’s womb).
Save the whale, the spotted owl, but kill the baby is [...]

Carbon Tax is bad politics

Monday, September 8th, 2008

In recent column for the Ottawa Citizen, Susan Riley wonders why the Liberal Green Shift plan isn’t catching on.
So I decided to answer her with a letter to the editor, published today:
Re: Liberals shift down, Sept. 5.
Columnist Susan Riley’s impassioned defence of Liberal leader Stéphane Dion and his Green Shift plan completely misses the point.
Mr. [...]

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Dear Editor:
Upcoming Election
Letters to the Editor
With Canadians going to the polls this Oct 14/08, after much consideration, myself and my family will be voting for the Conservatives. Mr Harper seems like the best candidate to lead our country.
On the other hand if one of the other leaders wishes to address and do something about [...]

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Dear to the Editor

Nicholson ignoring the tide

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

To the Editor:
In anticipation of a fall election the Harper government moved Monday to extinguish the abortion debate when Justice Minister Rob Nicholson announced the government will draft a new bill with a milder version to replace Bill C-484, the Unborn Victims of Crime Act. Bill C-484, introduced last year by Tory MP Ken Epp [...]

Desnethe-Misinippi-Churchill River

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Dear Editor:
What an interesting situation in the Desnethe-Misinippi-Churchill River by-election! A Tory who was never a Tory is running as a sort-of Tory while a Tory who was a Tory leadership hopeful is now a Liberal who may not be allowed to run as a Liberal.
Tory is, of course, the word reluctantly accepted as the [...]

An Open letter to America

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

My Fellow Americans
It is abundantly clear that our President and our elected representatives in Washington, D.C. do not give a tinker’s damn what we, the American people want. Our President has even gone so far to say that those of us who oppose the “Immigration Reform Bill” are using “Red Neck” fear tactics to defeat [...]

Distortion of the urban nature of Canadian population

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

Dear Editor:
Re: Urban(e) Voters
Klaus Rohrich, purposefully or not, distorts the urban nature of the Canadian population. While, yes, geographically only 10% of Canada’s geography is urban, 80% of the population live in urban areas < http://www40.statcan.ca/l01/cst01/demo62a.htm?searchstrdisabled=population%20canada%201961&filename=demo62a.htm&lan=eng >. This article seems to be a knee-jerk rant against Toronto. (For the record, I live [...]

Canadian Urban/rural vote split

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

Dear Editor:
Re: Urban(e) Voters
Hi, good afternoon. I’ve read your article in the Canada Free Press dated Jan, 27 2006 and I have to disageed with you. I live in Montreal and I am not ashamed to say that I voted Conservative even though my candidate was defeated. While I agree with you that a lot [...]
