On the CBC, Elizabeth May of the Green Party reiterated her support of abortion. She feels that women should be able to slaughter their own children simply because the child happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time (the mother’s womb).

Save the whale, the spotted owl, but kill the baby is how the Green Party thinks. They are hypocrites.

Dear Editor;

Since when has a Democratic Presidential candidate declared war on his opponent’s Vice Presidential selection, while imposing a “gag-order” on his own VP running mate?

The Democrats are falling all over themselves trying to find dirt on Gov. Palin, and if it fails, they through mud on the wall, hoping some of it will stick.

Does this sound like “Change”? Set aside all the garbage being thrown by the Democratic gutter dwellers, and you have a very qualified, tested, patriotic, small town mother of five that has out shined every politician since “Slick Willy” came on the scene sixteen years ago.

The new Democrats and their elite left wing media, ousted their own extremely qualified “female” candidate for an unqualified, “Silver-Tongued” freshman senator. Furthermore, Obama seems to be running against Georg Bush instead of John McCain, who also happens to be extremely more qualified to be president than Obama.

Well, here is my suggestion, since Obama wants to run against Palin, and Biden is muzzled, let’s appoint John McCain president, and have a three way run off for Vice President between Pistol-Pack’n Palin, Obama bin Talk’n and Mad Dog Biden.

My money is on the “Babe”.

Sincerely,
Taylor Ward, proud to be a Republican, and amazed at the silence of the “Good Christian Democrats”.

In recent column for the Ottawa Citizen, Susan Riley wonders why the Liberal Green Shift plan isn’t catching on.

So I decided to answer her with a letter to the editor, published today:

Re: Liberals shift down, Sept. 5.
Columnist Susan Riley’s impassioned defence of Liberal leader Stéphane Dion and his Green Shift plan completely misses the point.

Mr. Dion’s scheme might be good economics, as Ms. Riley believes, but it’s terrible politics.

Here’s the problem: any political idea you need to explain to voters before they will accept it is by definition a bad idea. In politics you want people to react, not think.

Winning political ideas are the ones which you don’t need to explain because they resonate with a voter’s emotions: fear, anger, pride, patriotism.

And it’s hard to get emotional about a complicated Green Shift plan that’s more about tax codes and subsidies than saving the environment.

This is a lesson the Liberals might have to learn the hard way.

Gerry Nicholls, Oakville

Upcoming Election

Letters to the Editor

With Canadians going to the polls this Oct 14/08, after much consideration, myself and my family will be voting for the Conservatives. Mr Harper seems like the best candidate to lead our country.
On the other hand if one of the other leaders wishes to address and do something about the high gas prices, getting tougher on crime, lowering taxes and protecting our manufacturing jobs, then I may give them a second look. I want to see more made in Canada, not made in China

In short I want to thank Mr Harper for helping to re-build our Canadian Armed Forces.I think that more needs to be done. Our men and women deserve the best equipment possible.A number of Canadians are concerned with the war in Afghanistan.I believe that we need to stay the course. The Taliban are a very evil enemy who need to be defeated. They murder, kidnap and torture innocent men women and children. The Taliban are nothing short of a bunch of evil, low life, gutless bunch of cowards.

Regards
Steve Martin
