ALL THE WAY HOME

Holding hands and running
through the springtime morn
romping in meadows green
with sheer delight
walking arm and arm through
the falling autumn leaves
huddling together in the
snow-cold night
weathering the storms and strife
on the trail of life
hand in feeble hand in the fading
of the light

Allowing veiled Muslim women to vote amounts to giving their male keepers two votes

October 2nd, 2008

Dear Editor:
Re “Swear oath at polls, veiled voters told.” (Sept, 30):

Muslim women who veil their faces are not allowed to vote in their homelands. And even here, they are under the control of their fathers or husbands. Allowing veiled Muslim women to vote amounts to giving their male keepers two votes.

Save the whale, the spotted owl, but kill the baby is how the Green Party thinks

October 1st, 2008

Dear Editor;
On the CBC, Elizabeth May of the Green Party reiterated her support of abortion. She feels that women should be able to slaughter their own children simply because the child happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time (the mother’s womb).

Save the whale, the spotted owl, but kill the baby is how the Green Party thinks. They are hypocrites.

To be an environmentalist one must know Biology in order to know environmental impact. The fact that the Green Party fails to understand that abortion kills shows they are not environmentalists.

WINDS OF MASS DESTRUCTION

September 17th, 2008

EVIL BLOWS THE WIND
THE RAGING, SAVAGE WIND-CRAZED SEA
LACERATES THE HAPLESS SHORE
CAUSING MAN AND BEAST TO FLEE
THE CARIBBEAN’S LETHAL ROAR.

THE WINDS OF DEATH CANNOT BE STOPPED
FROM BLOWING TERROR OE’R THE LAND
TO LET THE KINGS AND CAPTAINS KNOW
THAT NATURE’S STILL IN DARK COMMAND.

Obama needs a wider choice of bumper stickers

September 16th, 2008

Dear Editor,

To really get the word out regarding the Obama record and agenda to the faith communities, the Obama campaign needs a broader range of bumper stickers. Since God-O-Meter reports that the campaign has more such gear in the works, here are a few suggestions:

Obama’s sexist attitude

September 11th, 2008

Dear Editor,

I wonder if Obama’s lack of respect for women could be related to his early Muslim upbringing?

Who is Running Against WHO?

September 11th, 2008

Dear Editor;

Since when has a Democratic Presidential candidate declared war on his opponent’s Vice Presidential selection, while imposing a “gag-order” on his own VP running mate?

The Democrats are falling all over themselves trying to find dirt on Gov. Palin, and if it fails, they through mud on the wall, hoping some of it will stick.

Carbon Tax is bad politics

September 8th, 2008

In recent column for the Ottawa Citizen, Susan Riley wonders why the Liberal Green Shift plan isn’t catching on.

So I decided to answer her with a letter to the editor, published today:

Re: Liberals shift down, Sept. 5.
Columnist Susan Riley’s impassioned defence of Liberal leader Stéphane Dion and his Green Shift plan completely misses the point.

Mr. Dion’s scheme might be good economics, as Ms. Riley believes, but it’s terrible politics.

Here’s the problem: any political idea you need to explain to voters before they will accept it is by definition a bad idea. In politics you want people to react, not think.

Winning political ideas are the ones which you don’t need to explain because they resonate with a voter’s emotions: fear, anger, pride, patriotism.

And it’s hard to get emotional about a complicated Green Shift plan that’s more about tax codes and subsidies than saving the environment.

This is a lesson the Liberals might have to learn the hard way.

Upcoming election

September 7th, 2008

Dear Editor:

Upcoming Election

Letters to the Editor

With Canadians going to the polls this Oct 14/08, after much consideration, myself and my family will be voting for the Conservatives. Mr Harper seems like the best candidate to lead our country.
On the other hand if one of the other leaders wishes to address and do something about the high gas prices, getting tougher on crime, lowering taxes and protecting our manufacturing jobs, then I may give them a second look. I want to see more made in Canada, not made in China
