David, thank you so much for your article on Irena. I was aware of her passing in reading reports in our media, but none were as informative and revealing as yours. I wish your column had been published here.

It’s ordinary people with extraordinary altruistic love of their neighbor that gives God the opportunity to grin ear to ear once in a while. God bless this fine lady as she deserves all the heavenly rewards she may receive.

The anti-spanking Bill S-209 will be discussed in the House of Commons. Here we go again with runaway government activists and knows it alls micromanaging the raising of children. These Dr Spocks think the majority of Canadian parents are child abusers.

Children are not simply short adults as bureaucrats assume. The Minnesota Crime Commission is bang on when it states, “ Every baby starts life as a little savage. He is completely selfish and self-centered; he wants what he wants when he wants it. His bottle, his mother’s attention, his playmates, toys, his uncle’s watch. Deny him these once and he seizes with rage and aggressiveness which would be murderous were he not so helpless. He’s dirty, he has no morals, no knowledge, and no developed skill. This means that all children are born delinquent, if permitted to continue in their self-centered world of infancy, given free reign to their impulsive actions to satisfy each want, every child will grow up a criminal, a thief, a killer and a rapist.” The Bible calls it sinful depravity. They need the incredibly superior physical strength that a parent has over them through discipline to reign in that savage nature.

Children are not born innocent and imitate the evil of grown ups as they grow like liberals think.

Children are proud, frivolous, thoughtless about serious matters and crave worldly pleasure. They are thoroughly influenced by the world around them and are greatly affected by evil friends. They are ignorant of the Gospel that saves. So parents have to diligently bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them and model how they should live (Deuteronomy 6).

The use of small temporary pain is necessary to prevent great or permanent pain later. All criminal law relies totally on pre-emptive pain. A spanking is just a form of pre-emptive pain at home to prevent anarchy in the home and later in society.

The poor will also be far disproportionately more likely arrested for child abuse under anti-spanking laws. The poor turn to police to solve family problems while the wealthy seek professional counseling. Middle-class, educated moms in their air-conditioned homes and tinted glass SUVs are out of the public eye. But the shift-working mom who lives in a sweltering apartment and whose sleep-deprived child throws a tantrum on public transit is the one who is going to get caught.

Anti-spanking laws will turn our country into a nation of domestic spies. In Nazi Germany the most dangerous and oppressive social control was not codified into law. It was simply neighbour spying on neighbour and turning over to the Gestapo what they found offensive about another neighbour’s private life or lifestyle, like who slept with whom and how ones children were treated. In Sweden where they banned spanking, there is no outcry when children are being seized merely because of untidy apartments.

Parents raise children, not the village. When we follow the liberal mantra that a village raises a child you end up with a village idiot.

While no one seems to know how to control serious crime on the streets of Toronto, there is a way to make sure that prisons are kept crime and drug free: Put the prisons under military supervision. Or, if using the army is not possible, at least hire retired Military Police personnel to show civilian penologists how prisons should be run.

So what’s really going on? Re – Global warming. Well let’s take a look at the usual suspects. Quebec, Dion, Charest, McGuinty, May, Suzuki, the Sierra club, the left, socialists, unions, politicians.

Yes indeed, a new Quebec stock exchange, about as phony as you can get. Ever hear of Adscam, the gun registry, the millennium bug…etc. Now it’s called cap and trade? Lets all pretend that were doing something for the environment even though we won’t be accomplishing a thing, other then funneling money into an exchange that will go bankrupt within a few years when the left have figured out a new cause/way to take your money. Let me word it another way, this is nothing but a way to funnel billions into the province of Quebec again. Think about it for a minute. Who else really benefits and for what reason? Well? Not the environment. How many people will become rich off this latest government scam? Not you or I.

You know there’s something terribly wrong when Quebec is pushing so hard for this. Just remember Shawinigate, bilingualism, the HRDC boondoggle, the gun registry, Adscam…etc. A lot of people have become wealthy on your dime. This latest cap and trade, Kyoto, Quebec stock exchange scam should never see the light of day but it probably will.

Wake up Canada, it’s your money.

Has Morgentaler made for a better Canada?
The Order of Canada was established in 1967 as the highest civilian honour this country has to offer to exemplify the motto “desiderantes meliorem patriam” taken from the book of Hebrews in the bible in reference to those who aspired to a “better country.”

How is it that a man who boasts about his own direct elimination of 100,000 preborn children is honored with the Order of Canada? What does it say about a country that 20 year after the Supreme Court ruling that bears Morgentaler’s name still has no abortion law of any kind and continues to allow the unborn to be an endangered species? How is it that our Charter of Rights and Freedoms has no provision for the right to life of the unborn? Why is it that the millions of Canadians with a conscience who desire some sort of legal limits on abortion are marginalized as extremist, ultra-conservative or outside of the mainstream when polls consistently show most Canadians to be extremely uncomfortable with the current lawlessness when it comes to abortion?

Eight Canadians have returned their Order of Canada medals. 32 MP’s have voiced their disgust and the Governor General and Prime Minister’s office have been swamped with phone calls and letters of protest over Morgentaler’s award.

The issue is not only about abortion. It is about democracy, decency and the future of this country.Mr. Morgentaler’s award should be rescinded immediately.

Now, a carbon Tax.

Politicians have, in the past, used that old bullshit phrase of ‘cutting taxes’ to get you to vote for them. Now, Stephan Dionne, has come up with a new wrinkle on that old lie : Tax your heating oil and anything else you burn to move your food and everything else that you have always had in your life… but, he’ll lower your income taxes.

CONSIDER THIS from a person who has bothered to do the homework:

When a politician’s lips move, I know he’s probably lying. Mr. Dion says his carbon tax will be revenue neutral. So, I went online and found a carbon calculator and keyed in the annual energy consumption for our household and learned we produce 17 tons of greenhouse gas. Fully 60% of this usage is for electricity which we use to heat our home.
I have already improved insulation in my walls and replaced my windows and doors; use the new ‘twirley’ lights and ensured that my appliances are all Energy Star products. In the past 20 years, these measures reduced my electricity usage from 24,000 Kw Hrs per year to 16,000 Kw Hrs per year last years. What is my reward for this improved efficiency? My power bill is unchanged from what it was 20 years ago. But, my power bill would attract a carbon tax of $104 in year one of Mr. Dion’s plan and $ 416 in year four. My power bill would rise from $166 per month to $210 per month in year four.
Since I live on a fixed income consisting of CPP and Old Age Security, my income tax bill runs at less than $200 per year. So, for my household, Mr. Dion’s ‘revenue neutral’ carbon tax will cost me $416 per year less income tax reductions of about $10 per year.
Revenue neutral? In a pig’s eye! This is a tax on seniors living on fixed incomes. Well, Mr. Dion, you haven’t got a snowball’s chance in hell of ever getting my vote. I hope everyone else takes five minutes to run the same calculations I did and vote to send this joker to the political boneyard.

I just had to email you after reading that article to tell you that that has to be one of the greatest pieces of literature ever written. I don’t have a clue on how long it took you to write that, but it has been a long time since I’ve seen so much truth and compassion in a single article. Well Done! I most certainly hope that others will see this article and spread it around the country. Again, Ron, Thanks for taking the time to write this article.
