Chef Matthew Kennedy recently joined the team at Sequel attracted to their green vision. His skill in the kitchen mixed with their purpose of producing fabulous food in the cleanest possible way is a match not to be missed.

Sequel is visually inviting from Yonge Street – one can see the flickering candles from the roadway. The atmosphere is warm, and romantic with soft earth tones, hardwood floors and casual dcor.

We were delighted with the Chef’s selections for our tasting menu (with recommended wine pairing of course…)

Our meal began with a selection of appetizers and ‘Soup of the Evening.’

Asparagus and ginger puree with lemon sesame goat cheese and tender shoots…….

This soup was outstanding, flavourful and a wonderful start to our meal.

We were then treated to try two other appetizers;

Crisp frisee and warm bacon salad, which piled the greens on warmed asparagus, matchstick potatoes mixed in champagne vinaigrette and topped with the freshest of poached egg. A light and interesting combination of tastes. I would most definitely order this again. And Sea Scallops which was such a display of colour, a must try for seafood lovers. A mound of violet potato puree, topped with scallop and a prosciutto chip all drizzled with a citrus, cardamom and vanilla vinaigrette.

For our main courses, we sampled Crisp Quebec Muscovy duck confit topped on scallion leek mash, roasted baby turnips, and cranberry compote and jus--And Pan roasted Lake Huron pickerel placed on herb roasted fingerling potatoes, provencal stew and ginger radish slaw. The flavour in the obvious freshness of the fish and duck came through in these dishes; they were expertly prepared, presented and very much enjoyed.

Although pleasantly satisfied, this meal would not have been complete with out the homemade toffee apple bread pudding with Cuban rum cream and the maple flavoured crme Brulee (of course always a Cook favorite…)

The entire dining experience exhibited a fresh clean taste, which is exemplified throughout the entire menu, along with daily specials.

Sequel offers an extensive wine selection, from around the world, however local wines are highlighted in keeping with the desired concept.

Sequel is open for Dinner at 5:30 PM Monday to Saturday. The seating capacity is 25 with private event dining for 25 upstairs. Reservations are highly recommended. Dinner for two before wine would be approximately $100.00

Their full service catering is available 365 day a year specializing in customized events and special menus.
