Ladies Night--Saturday Night
By The Cooks.

(vol-e-ay) An intriguing name, translation being; "Wants, Cravings & Desires" – all of which were certainly met for The Cooks while visiting our latest find.

VOGLie, found at 582 Church Street, 1 block north of Wellesley Street, is situated in a beautiful Century home, approximately 130 years old. Owned by Leah and Maria - they have transformed an old structure into a lovely venue, filled with atmosphere and romance for an intimate dinner for two or a large function with friends.

Just inside there is a casual well appointed cocktail area with a fireplace, large bay window with the nicest romantic table for two. It is the most popular table, so make reservations. There is a large bar separating the 2 dining room areas with seasonal front and rear patio garden that collectively accommodate 275 in total seating. The brick fireplaces (3 of them), the silk draperies, hardwood floors and soft music created a warmth and coziness that positively added to our dining experience.

Daniel, our server for the evening met us in the foyer of this grand old mansion. After seating us, he started us off with his specialty – a very dry Martini, while we looked over the menu, and had the pleasure of meeting Maria, one of the owners.

We began our dinner with appetizers of Grilled Gamberoni, which consisted of jumbo shrimp marinated in lime, garlic, olive oil & pepper sauce, and Stuffed Eggplant which had the most amazing combination of flavours. Maria’s own creation and a must have. Two pieces of grilled eggplant stuffed with a mixture of asiago cheese, sundried tomatoes, & herbs topped with tomato sauce and baked. Simply outstanding.

A salad, enough for us to share was then served – Grilled Pear Salad, with goat’s cheese, pancetta & walnuts on a bed of baby greens drizzled with raspberry vinagrette. Very refreshing and would make a great light lunch!

Our main entrees consisted of the Grilled Lamb Chops with Honey Mustard Balsamic Sauce – cooked to perfection along with baby potatoes and vegetable, and an Italian Beef Stew. A hearty bowl of tender pieces of beef stewed in red wine, with peppers, carrots, tomatoes & potatoes, accompanied by fresh Italian bread. Both, very generously proportioned meals.

The entire menu includes a wide variety of options, including; seafood, pasta, chicken, pork, beef and vegetarian fare complimented by a broad selection of wines.

This wonderful dinner was topped off with homemade Tiramisu and a Port to settle the now very satisfied Cooks.

It is always Ladies Night on Saturday Nights in the upstairs lounge. Seating is 275 including both patios. Dinner for 2 with wine is approximately $130.00.

Voglie caters to Weddings, Corporate events and Birthdays as well as a special night out for those with a discerning taste for incredible Italian Dining.
