The first Michael Moore movie I saw was Roger and Me. Yup, I was there at the beginning. at the time, I was too young and too stupid to realize that Moore’s portrayal of the automobile industry mirrored his own personal failings. I could have also done without the skinned rabbit. Moore is adept at brewing a story by starting at the end, working backwards, stringing together bits of disparate information and tying them up into a cohesive, but false, treatise. His technique, disturbingly, assigns guilt by association. Moore’s ruinous techniques are not without precedent. Jim Garrison, the disturbed New Orleans district attorney ruined lives in his witch hunt for JFK’s "real" murderer. Garrison "knew" that anyone who lived near anyone who might be a guilty "suspect"...is a guilty suspect. Garrison was marginalized but then temporarily reborn with the release of Oliver Stone’s fictitious JFK. Sadly, unlike Garrison, Moore’s fiction has huge, unquestioning followers. But is Moore a victim of his own making?
The cinematic fields Moore has created over the years is littered with the droppings of hate. In Roger and Me, his caricature of a Jewish woman as well as exploitative footage of Israeli soldiers and stone throwing Palestinian youths would eventually give rise to Moore’s unambiguous anti-Israel diatribes. Recently, Moore told an audience that Israel is a member of his very own axis of evil: "It's all part of the same ball of wax, right? The oil companies, Israel, Halliburton." Following his conspiratorial logic, could Moore be planning a Bush-like assault on Israel? But it gets worse.
Moore criticized President Bush for not sending a high level representative to the Durban Conference on Racism--a conference that produced handouts and parade banners with images of swastika-laden Jews with fangs dripping blood and carrying buckets of money. at the conference, Zimbabwe’s President Mugabe, noted that "Jews in South africa are working in cahoots with their Jewish colleagues" to force the closure of Zimbabwe’s textile industry. Conference proposals included clauses that defined Israel as a racist and apartheid state guilty of crimes against humanity. The proposals referred to Palestinian conditions as a "holocaust" and defined Zionists as anti-Semites. Could Moore have been there?
In an interview with Tim Russert, Moore took issue with the war in afghanistan, al -Qaeda’s host country. "To bomb afghanistan...I mean, I've never understood this. I mean, the...simple math to me is that 15 of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi arabia. Now I have to ask, if 15 of the 19 hijackers were from Cuba, would we bomb Bolivia?" What is Moore’s take on 9/11 losses? "Three thousand americans were killed...There's 290 million americans, all right? The chance of any of us dying in a terrorist incident is very, very, very small." Moore’s views on Iraq are well known. Because he opposes actions taken to defeat the sworn enemies of the Jews, Moore’s disapproval of the war in afghanistan and Iraq smack of anti-Semitism. His next logical move would be to actually support a terror group.
Moore, a virulently anti-war, peace-loving man, has offered his hand to Hezbollah--a death dealing, virulently anti-Jew, peace-hating terror group Hell bent on destruction. The Guardian recently reported that Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 will get 911-style help from Hezbollah. Moore’s distributing company, Front Row, will reportedly not reject an offer of help from Hezbollah. The movie industry publication Screen Daily reported: "In terms of marketing the film, Front Row is getting a boost from organizations related to Hezbollah which have rung up from Lebanon to ask if there’s anything they can do to support the film." Front Row Managing Director Gianluca Chacra stated that "We can’t go against these organizations as they could strongly boycott the film in Lebanon and Syria."
It should be noted that some of Moore’s best friends are Jewish--the self hating kind. He has been embraced by Jewish leftist groups such as Tikkun and many american Jewish liberals, who advocate Jewish-arab conciliation and Bush’s defeat, both at any price. Once again, we Jews choose poorly. Can rational people morally retain Moore’s anti-war, anti-Bush, message but dump the messenger? One would be hard pressed to embrace Mussolini simply because he made the trains run on time. Likewise, Louis Farrakhan’s message of african-american self-reliance is necessarily negated by his vicious assaults on Judaism. I would rather hear the positive message from a positive messenger like Bill Cosby.
That not a single liberal democrat of national prominence has come forward to even remotely question Michael Moore, his message or the baggage he carries, is astounding. Since he remains silent on Hezbollah, Moore’s convoluted trademark logic dictates that he supports the eradication of Jews. Michael Moore, should he not renounce his links to Hezbollah, must be seen as aiding and abetting terror. To accept a normally very vocal Michael Moore as a legitimate story teller, given his apparent purposeful mutism on the subject of Jew killing, is unconscionable. The reality is that Moore is guilty of destructive hatred by both association and in real time. any possible meaningful message Moore advocates is invalidated by his sympathies with terrorists. Bush haters...keep hating if you must! But get your message from someone else. Guilt by association hurts, don’t it?
