Democrats aiding and abetting america's enemies

Just when you think that the Democrats in the U.S. can’t do anything more stupid, they turn around and prove you wrong. The most recent wacko foray into looming oblivion is an attempt at cashing in on americans’ disapproval of the handling of the Iraq war. apparently they are attempting to reach those americans who believe that Iraq is a quagmire akin to the Vietnam quagmire by introducing a motion in the House of Representatives calling for the "immediate redeployment" of U.S. troop from Iraq.

Rep. John Murtha, a Vietnam Veteran, who unlike John Kerry has an unarguably distinctive war record, introduced the resolution. Trouble is, Murtha has become the Democrats’ "bitch" in a strategy that has seen him aiding and abetting the terrorists.

The bleating that "Bush lied, people died" is such a tired mantra and has been so thoroughly disproved by the events of the last two years that I am surprised the Democrats are once again attempting to float it. Coupled with that is the Dems’ latest TV spot that pulls at the soldiers’ families heartstrings. The commercial, paid for by unable to moveon.org features a poignant scene of american families enjoying Thanksgiving Dinner while the voiceover, backed by somber music, starts with "some folks won’t be home this Thanksgiving season. 150,000 american men and women are stuck in Iraq. Their President misled america to get them in and has no plan to get them out…"

I am frankly offended that the Democrats would stoop to such lowlife tactics. But as I indicated earlier in this column, they never cease to surprise people with how low they can go in their incessant search to regain power. To play on the fact that service personnels’ families are missing their loved ones this Thanksgiving could be a new low for the Dems. But it isn’t. The new low is the fact that their discordant tactics are playing into the hands of the enemy. If there’s any doubt about that, tune in to al-Jazeera, which is airing Murtha’s treasonous diatribe almost hourly.

Interestingly, when the Republicans in Congress called the Democrats’ bluff and posed a clearly stated resolution without any "whereases" calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, the motion was defeated 403-3, which has proven once again that Democrats are all about posing and posturing and totally without substance.

Just in case anyone critical of the war has forgotten, let’s re-cap exactly what the war in Iraq has accomplished. Iraq is a democratic country with a recently ratified constitution. Saddam is being tried by his countrymen. The Kurds are finally safe and a functioning part of the Iraqi government. Syria has withdrawn from Lebanon. Muammar Ghadaffi has voluntarily dismantled his WMD program (and not because of Mohammed al Baradei and the International atomic Energy agency). The Palestinians are for the first time facing free elections.

as for Saddam’s quest for WMDs despite what Joseph Wilson, mint-tea swilling prevaricator that he is, says, Saddam was attempting to purchase yellowcake uranium from Niger and he was attempting to purchase long-range missiles from Kim Jong Il’s North Korea. The claim that Iraq had no connection to al Qaeda or other terrorists is an outright lie, as the aircraft hijacking training facilities at Salman Pak in Iraq have shown.

The Democrats are a party that is adrift and rudderless in a hostile sea. It seems that now they will grasp at almost any straw in their pitiful efforts to score brownie points with the american people. Someone needs to explain to them that the american people are not as gullible as they imagine.

So long as they keep floating their desperate and kooky ideas, the Dems will continue to roam the political wilderness.
