Democrats: Playing "politics"

By John Burtis

Thursday, September 14, 2006

While kids all over america hear "Play ball" on baseball fields, and opening whistles on football fields signal game time, leading corybantic Democrats, their hack tipsters in the press, and their delirious bobbleheads on flickering televisions holler, "You're playing politics!" to signal the inauguration of another round of that wearisome all consuming national sport.

During every process of today's government, following each call for national protection, the anniversary of 9/11, the budget proposals necessary to continue the war on Islamist extremists, every presidential speech, the announcement of the slightest victory, the launching of a naval vessel, the passing of a law designed to limit terror -- the Democrats and their toadies cry, after tossing a myriad of colored flags in the air in unison, "You're playing politics."

Today you can count on the simple fact that every Democrat serving in Congress will make this keen incisive announcement about anything offered by the Republicans anywhere, for any reason whatsoever.

and it all reminds me of some sort of nightmare scenario out of a TV show gone insane or a Twilight Zone, or better yet, an Outer Limits.

Picture the distorted moderator as he approaches the two debating teams, a and B, each from the two planets in question, with the winner securing the survival of their world, while the loser gains the privilege of watching theirs incinerated by the network.

Whoa, and once a begins, B cannot get their microphones to work, and when B talks, every word is interrupted by shouts from a, "You're playing politics," over and over again, to the roar of the hand picked audience.

and so it goes for us all, day in and day out, on every radio and television broadcast that one can possibly hear.

Every Republican in Congress and every speech given by President Bush must be interrupted with the surety of a referee tossing a flag after a late hit or for roughing the passer -- "You're playing politics" - as if politics can be somehow removed from the very halls of a Congress once ruled the same Democratic horde, whose similarities to Ghengis Khan resemble those Mr. John Kerry once so painfully and artfully ascribed to our military before this same insipid multitude's brilliant ancestors.

No, the Democrats, who are never known to play at politics in their continual, crass, and malodorous verbal and written attacks against Mr. Bush, the Republicans, america, honest people, the few remaining tax payers, the law abiding, debt-free, pay as you go Christian folk, are Simon pure in this regard. and being so, are always ready to cast a ready, "You're playing politics" at anyone showing the slightest bit of support for Mr. Bush, the war against the purveyors of Islamist terror, and the like.

Being alive in america today resembles a game of football run amok, with the Democrats acting as the umpires, referees, and the field judges, with the all too ready yellow flags to be thrown at the start of every single Republican play, with a whistle, an arm movement, and the stentorian, "You're playing politics, ten yard penalty, loss of down."

although the news that air america may at last be heading for a hearing in front of a bankruptcy judge comes as good news, if its true, and may finally silence that most strident of all the progressive howlings concerning "You're playing politics," among its other more obscene ravings. This indicates that at least one of the omnipresent flag tossing umpires is gone from the one-sided game of "gotcha."

But it persists relentlessly.

From Nancy Pelosi, to Harry Reid, and on to Dick Turban, Russ Feingold, Jane Harmon, John Conyers, Honest John Murtha, John "Live Shot" Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and all the braying Congressional barkers, you catch its malodorous tune.

and it never ends.

From the cheap-jackers and parlor barkers of the likes of Chris Matthews, David Gregory, Eleanor Clift, Bob Beckel, and the rest of the ambulant progressive pitchmen who drag from channel to channel, all you hear, beyond the fibs and outright fabrications, is the ditty about the playing of politics.

and it never terminates because it absolutely does not matter what anybody from the other side of the aisle ever says, whether it makes sense or not, even if it signals the dangers approaching the Medicare system. Or if you even float that dreaded sentence, "The world is running out of oil."

The answer from the Democrats will always be, "You're playing politics."

So, I've got to ask, what subjects on the table cannot be cast as politics as usual?

ask the Democrats, only that effete crowd of aping mummers seem to know.

But I bet that they'll have to do with following every nuance of the Democratic line, lock, stock, and barrel.
