Hamas, Hezbollah, anti-Israel vote

Liberal Party revs up appeasement

It is hardly a secret that the Liberal Party of Canada stands for everything and nothing. Whenever its members slip and make reference to the deity, it is usually to acknowledge that Liberals have the divine right to govern. The big lie (and there were many) that the Liberals put out during their last reign was when the former Public Security Minister, anne McLellan, constantly squeaked about the highest priority of a government was to protect its citizens. The reality was that the Liberals' number one priority was to ensure that as many Canadians as possible voted for the Liberals, even if that meant appeasing terrorists.

Last week the opposition Liberals issued a statement critical of Prime Minister Stephen Harper's foreign policy, arguing that Canada needs to get back to its role as an intermediary. In other words, we should sit down with terrorists groups such as Hezbollah and presumably Hamas and talk. They like us so we can convince them to give up their terrorist ways. This desire to sit down and talk to terrorists brings appeasement to a whole new level that Neville Chamberlain would find hard to imagine.

according to interim leader Bill Graham, Israel's actions are destabilizing Lebanon's democracy and the entire Middle East. Not surprisingly, Graham has no suggestions of what Israel should do about the constant barrage of missiles that are reigning down on it. It's not really important to the Liberals.

Prior to the former Liberal government designating Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, Bill Graham was one of the group's staunchest Canadian defenders. He pompously lectured the unwashed masses about Hezbollah having two wings; the political wing and the military wing and spoke about what good deeds the "other" wing did. He and his fellow Liberals have no difficulty sitting down and negotiating with terrorists while labelling it as "a balanced approach".

Karla Homolka, Canada's infamous schoolgirl killer, spent much of her pre-incarceration adult life working as a veterinary assistant. From all accounts she provided tender loving care to sick little puppies and kitties and was good at her job. although Canadians were outraged that she only received 12 years for her role in the torture killings of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy, under the "Graham Doctrine", perhaps she received too much. after all there was the "Karla who cared for sick animals" and the "Karla who killed teenage girls". It's strange, but whenever you hear about Homolka it never has anything to do with sick animals. The same should go for terrorist organizations like Hezbollah but it doesn't in Liberal land.

an incident occurred last week that will eventually show how far the Liberals are willing to go to appease and root for the terrorists if they find it politically advantageous. Blogger Warren Kinsella asked the leadership hopefuls about their views on the current Middle East situation. Joe Volpe replied, "One thousand missiles into Israel? That is an act of war. Israel has a right to defend itself and a right to exist."

all hell broke loose within the party after Volpe's statements were made public in a National Post column penned by Kinsella. Jim Karygiannis, Volpe's campaign manager either quit or was fired as a result of Volpe's views on the Middle East. Poor Joe made it virtually impossible for Karygiannis to gather support for him from the large number of Hezbollah fans that there are in Canada. and what did Volpe say that was so terrible? He merely said that Israel has the right to exist and to defend itself from missiles fired upon it. That statement put Volpe outside of the mainstream thinking of his party that Israel has no right to exist or defend itself. From now on, Volpe will be referred to as nothing more than a puppet of Stephen Harper, who we all know from reading the Toronto Star is nothing more than a puppet of George Bush (it must be nice to be George Bush).

Leadership candidate Scott Brison also gave Kinsella the politically incorrect answer when he condemned "knee-jerk anti-Israel sentiment."

It will be interesting to watch the Liberal Party's leadership race to see how far the mainstream of the party will go in blaming Israel in an attempt to get the anti-Israel vote. Time will tell.
