CBC Face Book face off

Only six votes separate pro-lifers and pro-choicers in CBC Canada Day Wish 'Contest'

As of right now in real time, abortion supporters have the number one spot in the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)/Facebook Wish Contest. The wish for Canada to remain pro-choice has 7,054 supporters. The wish to abolish abortion in Canada has 7,048. The contest ends on July 1 Canada Day. Aside from no CBC media release announcing that the pro-life and pro-choice contingents in the `contest' are separated by only six votes, notice that Canada's public funded television network, with its huge marketing budgets, draws a mere 15,000 to a contest whose winner will be announced on Canada Day. With Canada's population well north of 30 million, the number of CBC contestants represents something less than 0.5 per cent. "It is very important for pro-lifers to win this contest because CBC will give air-time to the winner on Canada," a pro-lifer wrote in a letter to Canada Free Press. Can anyone, no matter how nave, imagine CBC awarding airtime to pro-lifers on Canada Day?
